Breast enlargement or augmentation is commonly performed to correct
breast congenital deformities, correct breast volume deficiencies
following weight loss and to enhance the figure of small breasted
women. Breast volume is enhanced with saline or silicone implants
placed either in front of or behind the chest muscles. The procedure
is performed through a variety of incision sites, recovery is often
uneventful. Breast augmentation is frequently performed with a mastopexy
or breast lift to raise the nipple position to a more youthful anatomic
position.
