Description of Procedure
Many women seek breast enlargement to improve their self-image, correct
breast asymmetries or deformities. Breast enlargement can improve
the size and shape of your breasts. There are many different types
of breast implants (saline v/s silicone), different shapes and textures.
Dr. Majzoub will discuss these differences with you including the
best surgical approach for the placement of your implant (where to
make the incision) and the appropriate placement of the implant (over
or under the pectoralis chest muscle). Dr. Majzoub's approach to breast
enlargement is to inquire what his patients are attempting to achieve
and educate each patient on the best approach to meet their expectations.
It is important for each patient to understand that "bigger is
not always better," Dr. Majzoub prefers to obtain the most natural
breast appearance by matching your implant to your natural physique.
The procedure generally requires 2 hours of operating time. During
your consultation you will be informed of the different types of implants
available, the surgical approach and placement of your implants and
your implant warranty options.
Recovery
Patients should anticipate the need to take at least 5 days off from
work. A surgical supportive brassiere is worn during the recovery
period to help maintain your breast shape. Patients may experience
muscular discomfort which is controlled with pain medication. Patients
are encouraged to ambulate shortly after surgery and perform breathing
exercises. Dr. Majzoub uses dissolvable skin sutures, you may shower
in 3-5 days. Most patients can return to light impact work in 2 weeks.
Results
Patients will see the surgical results immediately. The final surgical
result will not be noticeable for 2-3 months. Swelling will gradually
resolve with time and the implants will fall to a more natural position.
A supportive brassiere is recommended during the recovery phase, your
surgeon will advise you when you may change to a standard brassiere.
